If you have a breed in mind that isn’t on our list, no problem! We just provide this list as a general guideline for breeds that excel as International Defense K9s. Please reach out to us if you are having trouble deciding on which breed is best for you.

German Shepherd
The German Shepherd Dog is one of America's most popular dog breeds — for good reason. They're an intelligent and capable working dog. They are amazingly versatile, excelling at most anything they're trained to do.

Malinois
The Belgian Malinois is a diligent, loyal, and highly intelligent dog breed. Large in size with a very streamlined, athletic build, this breed is both strong and agile.

American Staffordshire Terrier
The American Staffordshire terrier, sometimes called the "AmStaff” or also known as the “American Pitbull Terrier" is a medium-large dog with a muscular build and square head. Though known for its courage and high energy level, the American Staffordshire also has an affectionate and loyal disposition.

Presa Canario
The Perro de Presa Canario is a robust breed from the Canary Islands of Spain. When properly trained and socialized, the Presa Canario is docile, devoted, and obedient to its family. The Presa Canario’s stance is firm and vigilant, combined with a calm and confident temperament.

Airedale Terrier
The Airedale Terrier, also often referred to as 'the King of Terriers', is a strong-willed, sharp-witted, adaptable and energetic breed that is full of character. Their strong personality means they may not be the best choice for the novice dog owner.

Doberman
The Doberman pinscher is a medium-large, deep-chested dog breed with a sleek and sturdy appearance. The breed is muscular and athletic, possessing great strength and endurance — so much so that it historically served as the Marine Corps' official dog during World War II.

African Boerboel
The African Boerboel, is a large, mastiff-type dog from South Africa with a black mask and a short coat. This dog breed is large with a strong bone structure and well developed muscles.It carries itself with a confident and powerful movement, is fearless and shows courage when threatened.

Cane Corso
The Cane Corso is a large-boned and muscular working dog with a noble and confident disposition. Cane Corso are powerful dogs that may seem intimidating to some. These fearless and vigilant dogs are not right for everyone. However, they are often misunderstood and can actually make excellent companions.

Dogo Argentino
The large, powerful, pure-white Dogo Argentino might look imposing, but despite being a natural hunter and watchful guardian, this is a cheerful, friendly breed that is an excellent family companion.

NEAPOLITAN MASTIFF
The Neapolitan Mastiff or Mastino Napoletano is an Italian breed of large dog. It descends from the traditional guard dogs of central Italy. The breed is closely related to the Cane Corso.

Dutch Shepherd
The rare Dutch Shepherd who, as the name suggests, originates from the Netherlands, is often confused with German Shepherds. While they do share very similar ancestry, this less common breed, surprisingly, is regarded as easier to train and can make great family pets in an active home.

Giant Schnauzer
Turn heads with the regal and stunning giant schnauzer. This large breed dog has similar traits to the smaller standard and diminutive miniature schnauzer, with an air of authority afforded by its large size. .

Rottweiler
The Rottweiler is a breed of domestic dog, regarded as medium-to-large or large. Although still used to herd stock in many parts of the world, Rottweilers are now also used as search and rescue dogs, guard dogs, and police dogs.

Caucasian Mountain Dog
The Caucasian Mountain Dog is a breed of large livestock guardian dog native to the countries of the Caucasus region, notably Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Dagestan. The Caucasus Mountains in Georgia has historically been the most principal region of distribution of the Caucasian Mountain Dogs, both in terms of numbers and the quality of the dogs present in the area.

Black Russian Terrier,
The Black Russian Terrier, also known as the Chornyi Terrier is a breed of dog created in USSR in Red Star Kennel during the late 1940s and the early 1950s for use as military/working dogs.

Bouvier des Flandres
The Bouvier des Flandres is a herding dog breed originating in Flanders, Belgium. They were originally used for general farm work including cattle droving, sheep herding, and cart pulling, and nowadays as guard dogs and police dogs, as well as being kept as pets.
